Australia was originally scheduled to play three one-day and three Twenty20 matches against England in July, but the trip was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Domingo supports tour postponement

Bangladesh Head Coach Russell Domingo welcomed the move taken by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to ask Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to reschedule the three-Test Sri Lanka tour citing their inability to undergo 14-day quarantine as it would have been mentally draining for his charges.

BCB opted not to travel to Sri Lanka after the host insisted on a 14-day mandatory quarantine that too with movement limited to their hotel room.“Obviously I am very disappointed that the Sri Lanka tour is not taking place. I think BCB were correct in refraining from going under the stipulations that were placed upon the team.

VAR drama as Palace earn 3-1 win at Man Utd

Manchester United’s season got underway with a shock 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace as Wilfried Zaha grabbed a late double for the visitors in the Premier League on Saturday although VAR was once again the centre of attention.

United looked off the pace early on as Andros Townsend put Palace in front after seven minutes, with the home side’s campaign starting a week later than initially scheduled due to last season’s Europa League commitments running into mid-August.

United brought Mason Greenwood on at halftime but their task was made more difficult when the VAR decided that referee Martin Atkinson should ………..

India’s cricket board (BCCI) has received government permission to stage this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates, the league’s chairman Brijesh Patel told Reuters on Monday.

“Yes, we have received the permission from the government to stage the tournament in the UAE,” Patel said by telephone.

Indian cricket board invites bids for IPL title sponsorship

India’s Board of Control for Cricket is seeking a new title sponsor for the 2020 Indian Premier League season after the suspension of its five-year agreement with Chinese telecommunications company Vivo.

The suspension was announced in a brief statement by the BCCI last week and came when Indian troops were in a tense standoff with Chinese soldiers in eastern Ladakh in the Himalayas. In June, India banned 59 apps with Chinese links, saying their activities endanger the country’s sovereignty, defense and security.

The lucrative Twenty20 league is being staged in the United Arab Emirates from next month, and the title sponsorship became vacant last week.
